Supporters of Housing in Princeton are Meeting on Monday With ‘Princeton GROWS’ group

The ‘Princeton GROWS’ party will take place at the Arts Council of Princeton on Monday

A new organization launching in Princeton is aiming to present a positive case for more housing. The group, ‘Princeton GROWS’, will be holding a ‘fall social’ event in the outdoor space beside the Arts Council of Princeton (map) next Monday, October 19, from 5.30 PM – 7.30 PM.

Princeton GROWS has a mission statement to “promote a welcoming, diverse, and cohesive Princeton community made of neighbors that prioritize abundant, dignified, sustainable, and affordable housing for all.” This pro-housing message comes at a time when 65% of New Jerseyans say the find it difficult to cope with housing costs.

The name ‘Princeton GROWS’ comes from ‘Gather’, ‘Respect’, ‘Organize’, ‘Welcome’, ‘Share’. These words are intended to capture the goal of making an equitable, inclusive, and sustainable community for all.

The event on Monday night is envisaged as the first of a series of future events and activities that will aim to bring together supporters of housing in Princeton. The group also aims to help the public understand what is happening with housing, such as with the various apartment developments that are being built in Princeton to meet state ‘Mt Laurel’ fair housing requirements.

Snacks and non-alcoholic refreshments will be served. This will be an outdoor event, and although no rain is expected, it could be quite crisp, so wrap up warm! Further information is also available by emailing princetongrows@gmail.com.
