As part of an occasional series where we cast an eye over the Princeton, NJ rental and real estate market, we invite you to comment on a local listing that we have pulled more or less at random off Craigslist. Previous entries are here and here.
Today we are looking at a 2br, 2-ba apartment at Murray Place, just off Nassau Street at the eastern end of the Princeton U. campus. The rate is “from $2,300” per month. Full listing here.
This advertisement makes specific mention of the walkable location of this apartment:
“…located on beautiful Murray Place, 1/2 block from Nassau St. and adjacent to Princeton University campus, 2 blocks from Westminster Choir College, minutes’ walk to local shops, cafes/restaurants, bus and train stations.”
Last week we observed that 2-br apartments in a proposed redevelopment of the former Davidson’s supermarket space in the ‘Gasoline Alley’ section of Nassau St would likely go on the market for $3,000. However, it’s not always easy to compare between brand-new units and older housing opportunities. What do you think? Is $2,300 / month for this apartment a good deal?

Looks like a nice place to me: the porch looks pretty sweet.
